FAQs about car rental in Paros

Here are some frequently asked questions along with their answers about renting a car in Paros

1. How do we know your agency is trustworthy?

The website car-rental-Paros.com is part of Pioneer Services group, which is a fully licensed car rental company to have been members of the Association of Tourist Rental Car Companies in Greece (STEEAE), which is the only car rental association recognized by the Association of Greek Tourist Companies (SETE) and are fully bonded by EOT (Greek National Tourist Board) for rental services on the islands of Paros and Antiparos with registration number (MHTE) _______________ .

We are fully licensed in the EU for car rental services and have been operating in the car rental business since 2013.

2. Why pre-book online and not locally upon arrival?

Paros and Antiparos are two of the most popular touristic islands of Greece. It is very common, especially in the summertime for visitors to be unable to find a rental car or find rentals at extremely high rates.

Booking online guarantees the availability of the car category chosen and much lower rates since closer to summer all rates go up to very high demand.

Also, when pre-booking you get to choose your car from a much larger variety of available vehicles.

3. Do I need an international driver’s license or is my national one just fine?

Holders of UK, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and all EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving Permit (IDP). 

International Driving Permits where required, MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic license of the driver.

This is clearly stated on the international permit. An international permit presented without the domestic license, will not be accepted.

By Greek Law it is forbidden to rent a car without the physical appearance of your driver’s License. Photocopies and photographs will not be accepted. Any Certificate of loss or theft of your driver’s license will not be accepted unless it is from local Greek authorities and/or translated through official channels.

4. How do we meet in Paros?

Arrival by airplane (Airport of Paros): One of our representatives will be waiting for you right outside the Airport Arrivals Gate holding a sign with your name written on it. If you have provided your flight number, our agents will be monitoring your flight and arrange accordingly in case of delays.

Arrival by Ferry (Port of Paros): Upon arrival of your ferry, you can easily visit our main office in Parikia Port on foot (distance from Port gate only 70 meters), to pick your car up. Upon confirmation of booking you will receive the pin location of our office.

All other locations in Paros – Antiparos: Our agents will contact you prior to car collection or pick-up, to deliver or pick-up the chosen car to/from the desired location.

5. How do I know that my reservation is confirmed?

For all reservations a confirmation e-mail will be sent by a representative of our company, after the reservation is completed.

6. Is there a minimum age or maximum age to hire a car in Paros?

The minimum age for hiring a car in Paros is 23 years old for car groups A, A1, A2, A3, B, C, C1. Drivers must hold a valid driver’s license for at least two years.

For the remaining car groups the minimum age is 25 years old and the driver must hold a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years prior to the rental date.

Younger drivers between 20 and 23 years old or drivers that hold a license between 1- and 2-years can also rent a car, but an extra charge of 9 euros per day applies as a Young Drivers supplement.

Senior drivers between the age of 72 and 80 years old may rent a car in all rental categories except premium and luxury cars, but an extra charge of 9 euros per day applies as a Senior Drivers supplement.

All drivers must hold a valid driver’s license and present it at pick-up.

7. What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental period is two hours. The minimum rental charge cannot be less than one day (24 hours).

8. Can I book a specific car?

As a general rule in rentals, you book a category (of similar size and type), not a specific car. In any case, we strive to provide the specific model chosen on our website, whenever possible. More than 95% of the time, the model you choose is what you get with us.

9. Does the booking price vary from the final payment?

At Aegean Paros Car Rental we ARE VERY CLEAR about what you will pay. The rates we quote are the rates you pay. There are NO HIDDEN EXTRAS. All taxes and VAT are included in the rates we quote.

Any extra charges will be clearly shown and written on your voucher and may only be selected by you when booking.

10. Can I extend my car rental in Paros?

You can extend your rental in Paros on the condition that you notify us of the extension at least 24 hours prior to prearranged return, subject to availability (in case of last-minute extensions charges apply in comparison to current prices).

11. Can I modify/cancel my reservation?

Cancellations up to 3 weeks prior to car pick-up for all bookings (except for the non-refundable ones) will be accepted and the booking deposit will be returned in full.

–  Cancellations from 3 weeks prior to car pick-up up to 72 hours before scheduled pick-up will be accepted and the booking deposit will be returned in half.

–  Cancellations within 72 hours before scheduled pick-up will be accepted and the booking deposit will not be returned. A 10% discount coupon will be issued for any future bookings.

 

– Amendments to bookings up to 48 hours prior to scheduled pick-up will be accepted without extra charges, subject to availability. Daily rates may change for less or more days to be charged.

– Amendments to bookings from 48 hours prior to scheduled pick-up and up to the end of the rental period, will be charged with an extra 25 Euro booking amendment fee and are subject to availability. Daily rates may change for less or more days to be charged.

12. What is our daily Klm allowance (mileage)?

Free unlimited klms are included in the rates for Paros and Antiparos.

13. Do you offer baby seats for infants or children?

We offer the following selection of high-quality EU standard baby seats with CE certification for our little friends:

Infant/Baby seats: 6 to 17Kgs (13 to 37.5 lbs.)

Isofix Infant/Baby seats: 6 to 17kgs (13 to 37.5 Lbs.)

Kid Booster seats: 18 to 36Kgs (38 to 79 Lbs.)

Infant baby cot: 0 – 9Kgs (0 to 20 Lbs.)

Please reserve one at the time of booking to guarantee availability.

14. What should I do if I have problems with my car?

In case of a car breakdown please call us on the telephone number shown on our website and your contract as soon as possible and we will have somebody with you as soon as possible. Please make sure before calling us that the car has enough fuel or that you are stepping on the brake pedal (for automatic cars) and/or the clutch pedal (for manual cars) to start the ignition.

15. Am I allowed to drive my car rental out of Paros/Antiparos?

You are not allowed to drive our car rentals out of Paros or Antiparos without our company’s prior written permission.

16. What types of cards are accepted for hiring a vehicle with Aegean Paros Car Rental rentals?

Most major credit and debit cards, including VISA and MasterCard, are accepted for paying for a rental.

AMEX, Apple Pay, Google Pay and China Union Pay, are also fully accepted but incur an extra charge of 3% due to very high commissions in Greece.

17. Is there a security deposit required? Do I need to have a credit card?

No security deposit is required to rent a vehicle with us, as long as you hold a valid credit card.

A valid credit card is recommended for the rental, but you can always rent a car in cash or by using a debit card. In this case, you may be asked to leave a cash deposit, or we can charge a security deposit amount to your debit card which will be refunded upon return without damages.

18. Are there Delivery and/or Collection Charges?

Pick-up and collection are free from our Main Office at the port of Paros and at the airport of Paros within working hours (08:30 to 22:00 everyday incl. Sundays) Delivery to or collection from any Local Accommodation incurs extra charges pre-determined on our website.

We deliver and collect cars all over Paros and Antiparos.

Out-of-office hours (22:00 to 08:30) Delivery and/or Collection, incurs an extra charge, also pre-determined on our website.

19. Can more than one person drive the vehicle?

Each rental contract can have two drivers per vehicle, and this is free of charge.

20. Can I book by telephone?

Still, a booking deposit will be required for the completion of the reservation.

21. What are other methods of contacting your offices?

22. How can I make a reservation if I need more than one vehicle?

If you wish to book more than one car of the same category for the same dates, when booking please add to the notes section the number of similar cars you wish to book, the name and a contact phone no. for the reservation of each one. After that we will contact you to arrange details. Otherwise, you will need to book each car separately.

23. Do you offer cars for Weddings or special occasions?

24. What date format do you use on your website and your documents?

We serve customers from all over the world, so we understand this question might arise. We use the format used in Greece as well as in most countries around the globe.

We use day/month/year format (dd-mm-yyyy).

25. Do you refund for early return or for more fuel than pick up?

You may return earlier than stated in the rental contract, but no refund will be given, since the car was booked for this period, and it was not available to take any bookings online or otherwise.

Fuel excess will not be reimbursed.

26. Is it possible to add an insurance package after pick-up?

Yes, it is. All you have to do is pass by our main office during working hours and arrange it with one of our agents.

27. I’ve had an accident with some damage not covered by the insurance package. How is the cost calculated? I don’t want to be overcharged.

We want all our clients to be happy when visiting us and upon their return.

Damage may sometimes occur. We would never want to overcharge. To do so and make sure everybody’s happy we have an official tool (DAT) for these situations, which gives us an exact official estimate of each damage on the spot and for the exact car model and we proceed from there. Our clients also benefit directly from the discounts given to us by the repair centers and suppliers of car parts. We are against profiting from car damages that our clients.
